Re: What's Your Cylinder Count?

When I was an orderly in the hospital ...last century.....sometimes patients were sick and couldn't poop. (orderly's jobs are not very glamorous!) Sometimes they had an 'impaction'.........that prevented the "desired result"
(no $hit!!)  The Dr.'s said they were IMPACTED! (most often full of sh--!
Maybe this... and newscasters....impacted/impaction and "journalists" ....(see where I;m going here?!) Maybe there is a relation!!
Sometimes I really amuse myself!!!!!
This was back when I drove a wicked 64 Falcon Sprint........to keep it Ford related!

Here's the thing I've never understood: what's the problem with a dumpster fire?  Its a fire in a metal container that will keep it from spreading.  Basically the fire will just burn until it burns itself out, and so long as its not near anything important no harm no foul.  Like a lot of words, made up words, etc. I think the "journalists" are simply misusing the term.  Its like saying the area was decimated by fire.  Well, decimated means a reduction by 10%, so that's not really so bad.  What they mean to say is annihilated.  I think when they reference a dumpster fire they really mean a wildfire.  That makes sense, a fire that is hard to put out and is a danger to everything around it ultimately capable of destroying everything.  Ultimately who cares about burning garbage?  I wish my favorite sports team would become a dumpster fire.  When the fire is out all the garbage would be gone.  That's a good thing in my book...

"Who cares about a dumpster fire?" The poor soul who has to retrieve the four yard container, bring it back to the shop, clean out the ashes, pressure wash it, replace the damaged wheels, beat it back into shape and replace the lids so they close properly, grind off the rust, repaint it and reinstall all the required safety placards and decals. Ask me how I know. (Father in law owned a garbage company and I worked for him for a few months between jobs)

Yet they claim there are no jobs and the economy is bad...

Yep, the doc was using the word correctly; its an adjective most often used to describe a colon or a wisdom tooth.  Its an adjective for what's going on in journalists' heads as well, or possibly the colon is also involved in the equation...

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count?

I quit counting at 126 cause I can't remember how many model airplane or RC car engines are around.

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count?

My all time favorite miss quote is some local politician on the TV  back in 79, or so.  He was blabbing about some new program he was trying to sell and he said that it was really, "a copulation of two other programs the govt. was running.  I always figured that anything a politician is trying to sell is a copulation of the people.

Then there was the ABC Anchor back that I heard back in 98.  He stated that due to some circumstance or another, it was now "the Republican's turn in the barrel".  Dumb a$$ never hear the joke...or maybe he just didn't understand it.
They don't have to be bright, just pretty.

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count?

My favorite was hearing Jerry Jones say he wanted to get the Dallas Cowboys back to the "good old glory hole days".  I still laugh at that one.  He's certainly treated the team appropriately if that was his goal.

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count?

I got up to 126 then opened the box of RC car equipment and model airplane stuff and said enough!
