Seeing a picture of a "Shivel-lay" seat belt reminds me.........

I have an off topic question........
My lil 91 S-10 (Ford parts chaser!!) has /had the racheting type shoulder/seat belts. You could buckle up and then pull a little slack in the shoulder strap and slack would stay there. In a panic stop it would still lock up butt you didn;t hafta deal with the aggreivating chaffing of a shoulder strap.
Well........after 30 years the mechanism doesn't work any more. In fact the whole blame restraint system doesn't.  (Nothing lasts like it usta
I need a replacement and wonder if anybody knows of a new-er RACHETING type of belt system I could use or.......all of them the old choke & scratch we hafta deal with on new carz?

You should upgrade to something like a 57 Ford truck Sal and have that as your Ford parts chaser

Take a look at a couple of videos.  Both suggest cleaning the seat belt (one reason they don't retract properly is that they get dirty over time).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH3EVut9GXQ and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt9CeBQf570

Thanx John........I'm way past that. Dis-assembled and found some pieces missing!?! (somehow!...no loose piece under seat or inside belt housing!...weird) I compared the "guts" to the passenger side and there is pieces missing!
Now I need to replace with junk yard stuff. I called the Chevy parts guy and I think I heard him giggle when I ask about replacement retractor. He said..."This type was used 89 -91"
Even if...I found a 91 in the junk yard it would prolly be in the same shape as mine.
I was wondering if  the same type were made by other car co. and were 'swapable'?!
