Thank you Josh...what a cool photo. My first was a '51 Ford flat six that my cousin and I pulled and "touched up" the valves. Put it all back together and when we filled the radiator water went everywhere. Hummmm, not quite enough head bolt torque. Fixed that and when I turned 16 I drove it for a couple of years.

This is exactly how we filled our days and some nights when we were not with the girls.

My big brother’s 66 Satellite had the engine pulled in the street in front of his house, from a huge pecan tree. From that day, his windshield had a star crack in it from where I dropped the bolt that I was trying to put through the chain up high in the tree. And don’t ask what happens when you forget to remove that folded t-shirt from the lifter valley, and the shirt gets eaten by the distributor gear.

I've never pulled an engine with a tree. I've used a backhoe or mini excavator a half dozen times though.

I've used trees for body work too. A come-a-long around a tree can straighten a front bumper. Find 2 trees spaced properly and you have a red neck frame machine.

I've only ever experienced trees causing body damage...

I've never seen a tree cause body damage except the ones that jump out in front of you after a 12 pack.

That freaking woods are full of them. Sometimes the trails get a little tight...

anyone remember the jack stand that were red and black you could buy a K Mart? looked like they were made out of stamped steel. i had a V8 vega, fiber glass front end up on those and they started to break, so my legs are under the car, i'm sitting on my butt, back against the car port wall. the car is starting to lean towards me. I put my hands on the fiber glass fender trying to push the car back. I screaming for my wife she comes out and is asking all kinds of questions. finally she ask what do you want me to do. just stand there and if it falls on me go get help. I finally get out, block the car up and throw those fine pieces of safety gear in the trash.

Hah! I have different wheels, a red GT strip above the rockers, and a GT gas cap, but that's otherwise my car. And, no, rarely ever not smiling while driving it.

Several people were John when we heard the bad news.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
