Need help identifying this wire

Trying to figure out what this wire is on my early 65 coupe. This is right off the harness opposite of the fuse panel. The wire looks yellow in the picture but is a tan color, it could be faded from white.

Re: Need help identifying this wire

Been pawing through the diagrams.  The '65 could have had a couple of unused wires for the windshield washer pump but the diagram shows bullet connectors on those.  The 66 had a male-female connector like your picture shows that came off the leg to the wiper motor...could have been near the fuse panel or wiper switch.

Maybe you could get a better idea of the wire colors by stripping back the harness wrap a bit.  Average Joe Restoration (http://averagejoerestoration.com/) has downloadable diagrams which might help you too.

As I recall the only circuits that use those M/F connectors are the Neutral Safety switch, the back up lights, and the windshield washer.

Sorry I can't be more help.  This is why I just gut 'em and build all new harness, less trouble in the long run.

Re: Need help identifying this wire

Wire #29 is only yellow/white I see, but my tired eyes don’t see it in the diagram. List shows it in this diagram.

Re: Need help identifying this wire

I have another harness that doesn't have this connection. I've been looking all through those diagrams and don't see it either. May call Midlife and see what they say

Re: Need help identifying this wire

As Bob suggested, if you could remove some of the harness tape, you might actually see the true colors.

Are these harnesses with or without 5 gauge cluster?
65 had several versions of harnesses

Re: Need help identifying this wire

Haven't got a chance to get back to it but the gauge cluster is not the 5 gauge just the idiot lights. I was able to identify the heater plugs

Do you  have an Ohm meter?  If so check continuity from that yellow wire to the wiper switch connector.  If it goes to the WS connector it's probably the washer pump connection (optional).  The other wire looks to be black and it may be connected to the wiper motor ground wire which you can also verify with the meter.

What does this plug (end of the red arrow) go to?

Re: Need help identifying this wire

I can't figure this one out. I traced those two wire from the plug, the black goes to headlight connector R for the rear tail lights, the other wire on the plug wire goes to a right angle plug for the fuel gauge that it supposed to be yellow white.

Re: Need help identifying this wire

Been following this at a distance.  Based on your results, what about it being for a low fuel level warning light?

Re: Need help identifying this wire

I figured it out! On that plug is the connection the yellow white wire is for the fuel sending unit and the parking lights that connect to the rear tail light wiring harness. I was looking at that harness this am and saw the connection.
