I there any way to know what fly wheel is in a 67 289 c4 mustang? with out tearing it down? gathering information on converting it to an AOD and one of the missing parts is the plate that goes between the trans. and the block. I was told that plate would be the same. I seriously have my doubts about that, and is there a rule of thumb to go by?

I'm kind of sure it was a 157 tooth. My memory not working clearly today, but anyway when I change to the AOD in our 67 with 289/302 I needed to use a FMX flex plate that's 164 tooth.

As my automatic starter worked for my T5 swap (also started as a '67 289 w/ C4) I would say its almost certainly a 157 tooth flexplate.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
