Texas governor withdraws mask-wearing order

Starting next week, no more mask-wearing requirements in Texas.  Whether one agrees it is a smart move or not (please, let’s not start a pro-con discussion) this may pave the way for the BASH to actually happen in May, should anyone want to attend.

I got both covid shots so am good to go, personally.   Everyone will need to make their own decision, of course.

Ditto on both points. The cars are nice to see, but it ain't about the cars.

Re: Texas governor withdraws mask-wearing order

May have to pass on this one. Getting my left shoulder replaced in two weeks and don't know how long the rehab process may take before I can safely travel. I just got my second shot last Saturday and had no issues with it. I guess it's up to my doctor and how the rehab is going. Never had a shoulder replaced before so it's all new on how this goes.......

Good luck with that shoulder, Ron.  I've both hips but so far no knees or shoulders.  I'm told shoulders are tough so do what they say and take all the therapy seriously.  In the end you'll be glad you did it.

Thanks guys. I will definitely be doing the PT. Got nothing better to do - down one wing means no working on the Mustang or anything else for a while. Only problem is, the right shoulder has the same issues - only not as bad yet. Doctor says my tendons and strength are all good, just the ball and sockets are worn out.  I guess twisting wrenches on aircraft for 50 years is hard on the shoulders...... May have to do a second surgery in a year or so - then I'll be good to go for another 50.....

Re: Texas governor withdraws mask-wearing order

I just happen to have probably the last NOS Ford 65-66 door skin in existence.  Would beca fin project, but you ain’t getting my door skin!  I have been hoarding it for at least twenty years, just in case I need it.

There is a craigslist ad in Texas for some real nice rust-free doors for $400 ea.

Ron - hope you have a speedy recovery.  I know of two people that recently had the shoulder replacements and both went well; both had good range of motion within a few weeks, recovery pain was not that severe, and PT is essential.
Good luck.

Re: Texas governor withdraws mask-wearing order

Not to rain on the parade, but this covid is not to be messes with. I've never been so sick and weak. I can only pray that Bonnie stays healthy. I'm sure the mask and other CDC guidelines had their place in controlling some. I don't think we could be anymore careful than what we been doing the past 13 months.

I knew something was wrong since early Feb. and I was so sure it couldn't be covid related

Really sorry to hear that Rich.
Best wishes from us both for a quick recovery. At least one of us should be enjoying the Bash this year.

Re: Texas governor withdraws mask-wearing order

I feel the same way, but this thing does hit some people really hard for some yet unexplained reason.  I've got a friend who was on a ventilator for 8 days and was sent home from the hospital with an oxygen bottle. Now, almost 5 months after being discharged from the hospital, he is almost to the point where he doesn't need the oxygen bottle for daily activities like walking and climbing a flight of stairs. His wife got it at the same time he did and she had the sniffles.

Be smart, take reasonable precautions but go on living your life because the vast majority of people who get it will be absolutely fine.

Well, it's been four days now since the surgery and your friends were right. Pain isn't all that bad, and haven't had to use the opiates that he gave me. Doing pretty well, as it is still swollen and stiff, just taking it easy, rest and ice. Been doing some gentle stretching exercises and that hurts a bit, but no pain, no gain. I begin the PT on March 26th.
