1966 Mustang Coupe, 5.0 HO Swap. Stock 8.8 Rear, T5z transmission
So looks like what I thought I had, I don't. I assumed I had a drive shaft from a foxbody mustang since my drivetrain is basically swapped.
Universal Bearing to Universal Bearing look like it's 51-52 inches. (Tape measure) and It's 3 inch diameter steel. Any guesses?

Fox shaft would be much shorter.
Is the tube the same diameter from end to end?

My 92 5.0/T5 driveshaft is about 45.25”

I measured a 71 v8 Maverick shaft today. 52.5” x 3” dia.

It's 3 inch diameter. Looks like 51 inch so from my own research it would be the stock 1966 driveshaft.
I thought I could swap the driveshaft now and reuse it when I do a rear end swap but that won't be possible. I'll reuse the old steel one for now.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
