You know those 1/4” grade 8 bolts that hold the small block cam thrust plate to the block?
Taking apart an original 5.0 today, I realized the four bolts holding the cover plate on the oil pump are the exact same bolts used on the cam thrust plate. Since most used oil pumps just get trash-canned, be sure to harvest those four bolts before you toss out the old oil pump.
I have never seen those exact same bolts with the thin heads for sale anywhere.
I now have abundant supply for future use.

How about getting bolts with std head thickness and grinding them down.. After all, how many do you need?

I prefer using original stuff. Grade 8 bolts should not be “messed with”, and my suggestion results in free, correct parts to use.
