Here ya go BILLY.....you and your mechanic pal (I forget his name) should be able to whip this rig up pretty quick.
Re-arch them yourself.
Mark them out on the concrete floor and measure as you bend!
Or not!

I WILL PUT THOSE BLOCKS IN LIKE I WAS TALKING ABOUT....I DOUBT THE SHOCKS WILL MATTER.
I MUST SAY IT DID DRIVE BETTER WEN I DROVE IT HOME,
AS MUSTANGSTEVE MENTIONED TO ME I MAY TAKE THAT 5TH LEAF OUT OR MAY JUST PUT A 1 INCK WEDGE IN IT.

Could you share a couple of pictures of spring ends where they are mounted? ( front and rear)
Also a picture of spring-axle mounting too?
A pictures may help figure out the problem.
What is the center-center distance on your shackles?
The Mustangs Plus 5 leaf mid-eye on my car place the axle approximately 13.5” to fender lip.

THE LAST SET OF PICS ARE AFTER I PUT 16 LAND SCAPE BLOCKS IN TRUNK AND DROVE THRU THE COUNTRY A LITTLE WITH THE SHACKLE OLTS AND FRONT BOLT LOOSE .NOW I HAVE THE BLOCKS OUT OF THE TRUNK....I GUESS I WILL BE OK WITH IT. IT SEEMS TO RIDE A LOT BETTER THAN THE OLD SPRINGS AND SHOCKS, I CANT WAIT TO GT THE FRONT BILSTEIN SHOCKS ON IT LATER.
I THINK IT MAY POSSIBLE THE SHACKLES MAY BE LONGER I WOULD NEED TO COMPARE THEM TO MY OLD ONES AT MY FRIENDS HOUSE. THE NEW ONES ARE THE ONES MADE TO HELP WITH CLEARENCE FOR THE GT EXHAUST BUT I THOUGHT THEY WERE JUST CUT DIFFERENT NOT LONGER. I DID NOTICE SCOTT DRAKE DOES MAKE SOME THAT ARE A INCH LONGER BUT I DIDNT ORDER THOSE.

What does front spring attachment look like?
I highly doubt this ...what are measurements from spring eyes (front and back) to axle center?
Shackles on my 65 are 3.5”

I WILL MEASURE WHEN I GET HOME TONIGHT.

My neighbor, Jose bought those same springs from Jeg’s for his 65 fastback. I am thinking it might be money well spent to just return them before installing. That ride height is ridiculous, and is truly indicative of the kind of crap Scott Drake is putting on the market.
It is truly sad Mustangs Plus no longer has the four leaf reverse eye springs.

Yes, I am to the point where I actively try to avoid buying Scott Drake branded products. I am sure there have been one or two tunings that I have bought that have been ok, but most things are crap out of the box and/or fail almost immediately after installation.
I've 4.5 mid eyes that I got from Street or Track. Ride height is good with them.

Street or Track lists the 5 leaf reverse eyes, but does not volunteer they are Scott Drake. The watermark on the picture shows Scott Drake if you look real close.

I bought them (he says embarrassingly as the car is just getting road worthy) at least 5 years ago.

I believe you need a five gallon bucket of, "patience".
You just replaced 20 year old soggy bottom springs so of course the new springs will now ride higher.
Fill up your tank,
put a bag or two of sand in the trunk, and drive it often. They'll settle over time just not immediately.
You can't expect them to give you the ride height you want immediately. That's like planting a sunflower seed, sprinkling fertilizer on it and expecting it to be 6' tall the next day.....
BUT IT SAYS REVERSE EYE SITS 2 INCHES BELOW STOCK RIDE ... SO I GUESS IF I HAD REGULAR EYE SPRINGS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SITTING ABOUT 3 OR 4 MORE INCHES UP.

Yup, I just went and looked at them. I think they are Scott Drake. I guess I bought them before I knew to avoid Scott Drake products. Well, so far, I don't have any issues with the springs.

I think resetting your springs that are on the car and avoiding this kind of thing is the way to go.

I WOULD SEND THEM BACK FOR SURE.

JUST SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND GET THE EATON SPRINGS.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
