    Thoughts on fiberglass fenders from Maire Racing?

    I have an opportunity to buy a set of used but new fiberglass fenders and fiberglass quarterpanel lips. $700 for the set. I'm asking about the flaring (if its more than 1" I'll pass), how straight they are, and then if they were ever lined up on the car to see if they were reasonable close to mount without a ton of work.

    65 Vert (UCA mod,4bbl, hipo ex, 17x8), 2013 C-Max (hitch & cargo net), 2018 Cherokee (In bumper hitch)

    I have never seen them in person, photos only but they seem much more than an inch wider.
    Too cartoonish fo my liking.

    I would never use fiberglass fender flares over a steel body.  You will have issues with it over time.

    Fiberglass, no matter how well made, is going to need a lot of bodywork to look as straight as metal.  The difference between good fiberglass parts and bad ones is how well they fit, not the finish.

    The shape of the original Mustang is what makes it a classic.  Trendy modifications are typically regretted over time.

    But, it is your car and your choice. What makes YOU happy with it it is what matters.

    Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

    Yeah, found out the rear flairs were 2.5" wide... um.... no thanks. Can't quite tell on the fronts, but I have to get a better look.

    The reason for going fiberglass is... possibly quieter, marginally lighter, more room for my tire so I can drop my car down another inch in the front (and 2" in the rear). All I need is 1" more room, that's all my aesthetics can handle. Mostly I was wondering what the look out for, if they appear to be what I want.

    The flare is not so much the issue. It is the fact you have to cut your quarter panel and the wheel tub, then fill the gap between the two for clearance.  Only then will the flare give you more tire clearance.  Easier to mini tub it inward and get wheels that actually fit, keeping the stock body lines intact.

    Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

    Installing flares involves absolutely mangling your quarter panel and outer wheelhouse.  That being said I've been to Maier's shop a few times.  They make quality glass and carbon fiber products.  Installing isn't for the purist!

    Okay... not doing this. 

    Had no idea it involved that much cutting. Can't ever go back to stock without equal amount of work.
