went looked at a nice all original today has 69,000 miles same owner 32 years ...a little to nice for me to change around I did put a offer in for it...it will need a repaint and disc brakes before I would be happy... was really nice other than paint.
Offline
going to pick car up today .... will need to add disc brakes,
It is a 1965 Factory Black,4 speed,P/S,and A/C car.
needs a repaint but found no rust it was repainted over 32 years ago and whoever repainted it forgot to use right primer it seems or the paint would still be good its shiny.
Another interesting fact is it was built in Dearborn Michigan sold in ATLANTA GEORGIA and born September 22 1965 its about to be 56 in 5 days. I wonder if original owner is still alive.

Good to hear. Pretty sure you don't need to be reminded to post pics. 🙄

Tear it apart? Drive that some bish and enjoy it. I would do any mods that took it off the road for more than a day. Car looks great!

Congrats Billy! Glad you found what you wanted. Drive it and enjoy it and watch out for those other crazy drivers.

Very nice. Happy for you!

Only 926 miles from Carrolton, GA to Junction City, KS. Hope to see you there, Billy. What a great shake down run for a "new" Mustang. You could pick up Sal along the way.

Congratulations BILLY!! I love it and seeing another 4-speed is great too.
I am glad you are back in the Pony stable again brother.
Now get that insurance properly sorted and enjoy!
Oh and try to keep whatever you can from your wreck. Even if it is something small and maybe you can fit it to this replacement car and keep a memory of your dad with you.

I am getting a little slop in shifter and it gets stuck ....is there a rebuild kit for the linkage or adjustments?
Offline
I removed the original shifter, kept it and bought one of these kits back in about 2005. They are great, but the price has gone up a bit...
Or you could try these guys;

First thing you want to do is determine if you have a top loader, or a B/W T10. My 65 had the T10. I ordered a bushing kit (scott drake). I removed the shifter, and cleaned and lubed everything and installed the parts that came in the kit. It was a little better. After several attempts to eliminate the slop, I came to understand that the shift rods were worn, and the shift tabs that connect the rods to the trans were worn, as well, making it impossible to remove the slop, without replacing a bunch of small, hard to find and somewhat expensive parts. T5 swap solved the shifter woes, as well as the T10 woes that appeared every time I drove the car about 30 minutes.
If your trans has no woes, buy a hurst shifter and be done with it. While I love the look of the stock shifter in a highly original car, they really own the reputation of "broomstick in a bucket".

Carrollton to Surfside Beach is about a leisurely 6 hour drive.
October 30th we're do'in a "East Coast" Mini Bash!
30th is on a Saturday........Gotta nice Fall Car Show we can all go and look at.......hang out......grab a burger or 'what-not'.
(What-nots are in season that time of year)
Why don't you plan on driving that 'puppy' down and join us?!!
I already have a few guys that have committed to coming (most of whom have never been to a Mustang Steve Bash before!)
Several more guys have given me a strong maybe!
GREAT time of the year to visit the beach.
Let me know!!!!!

not sure what will be going on that weekend I already took off a few days in October to take the kids and Hunny camping.. Me working in Hospital now and my co workers getting sick ...I had 56 hours of overtime on my last check. had one co worker die and a couple other friends....people are starting to come around and see the shot is a good thing. it drastically cuts down the recover time.

Mike, did you see many Mustangs around MB at the beginning of Sept?
Supposed to be all over the place.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
