Binder pads question

Whats the scoop with EBC red stuff brake pads, making up a list for possible winter projects. Y'all got me inspired.

I would think the main thing is that you match the pads to the ACTUAL USAGE the car will be seeing.


Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

My car is only street driven, nothing else.
EBC web site says one grade above stock pads.
I have never used anything other than basic over the counter replacements. My car stops just fine but if I can shorten the stopping distance noticeably I’m all for  the extra safety factor.

How hard are they to install?
Varies by application, but removal of calipers is required. Having a caliper piston compressing tool is very helpful. Remove some fluid from your brake fluid reservoir to prevent overflowing. Fresh fluid and flush is recommended.

I have been thinking about going the Red Stuff route also. The factory disks currently seem to stop well and the only reason I have not gone with new Stuff on the pads is that I would need new rotors also. New rotors would also need new bearings since I have changed out the original hub and rotor for the combination hub/rotor that is now available. The  cost doubles when adding rotors and bearings

The local NAPA still turns disks at $15/disk.

I had all but decided on EBC red stuff for the Cobra brake conversion. Great braking, low dust, whats not to like?
Didn't like the up to 1000 mile bedding process, thats a loong time for me.
The late model crowd seem to like Hawk pads, I found a great price on them that Summit priced matched. They are currently getting baby sat at Sal's place, along with my Myrtle Beach Bash shirt (thanks Mike). I still want to pick them up in person.
With the Wuflu thing, I can't really justify the cost of wheels and tyres for the swap, have everything else. So no rush.
First international flight will be to the east coast though

What calipers do you have now?

I used semi-metallic pads with Granada setup and never had a problem stopping…my passengers did.😁

Currently with 2016 GT brakes front and rear, I’m literally using the factory installed pads that came on those cars from the factory.

Definitely find the style for your application.

I have stock 68 front and Lincoln MKII rear calipers.
