It took longer to get those darned Edelbrock shocks compressed enough to get the bottom studs in than it did to install the new 1” blocks and dig through my parts stash to find some u-bolts the right length. I had to use bottle jacks to compress the shocks. I measured ride height before and after shocks were installed. The shocks raised the car 1/2” !!!
The Edelbrock shocks will be for sale soon if anyone wants a stiff shock for a performance application. I am going with some highway cruiser type shocks for a smooth ride.

I think it looks good. I like the line of the rear end to be parallel with the ground. I even like a little rake over any droop. To me, the look of the car's rear end stance is the important measure.

I’d like to see what the hub center to wheel lip measurement is. I prefer the rear about 1” max higher.
From the factory I always thought that the front was higher than the rear.
Also if the photos are not taken on level ground the ride height appearance will be off.

My thinking is removal of the Edelbrock shocks, replacing them with some monroe-matics, will bring it down a bit more and provide a smoother ride. These shocks are STIFF!
When the right springs come available in the future, they will get changed out as well so the lowering blocks can go away.
Who knows… maybe some new front springs would raise the front a tad. It has shelby drop.
Remember, my intended use of the car is BASH CRUISER, not drag racer or corner carver. I want it to be comfortable with reasonable performance.

With the 250, 3.0:1 rear gear and T5 overdrive, it just cannot keep up with today's freeway traffic. The 250 needs some work. It has a miss but runs ok. I just do not want to spend any money on a six. Plus, I have several extra new v8 engines to choose from, so why not.
I hate the sound of a six. It can never be made to sound “right” in my opinion.

I agree about the sound of an inline 6…or even a v6.
300 in the F150 with free flowing exhaust and Flowmaster 50 series for big block 3” (as requested by owner), still sounds like a diesel to me. BTW, there is no drone in cab of truck with this muffler in a single outlet configuration. The turbo style muffler resonated in the cab. Even straight pipe was better than that turbo muffler…I cut it off day before install to see how it sounds in the cab.

I am generally not a fan of red cars (although I currently own two and have owned other red cars before) but that is a good looking 69 coupe. Gives me some inspiration for mine.

I ordered KYB GR-2 shocks today from Summit with a price match of Amazon price plus extra $5 off the set.
The very low mile Edelbrock shocks are now for sale if anybody needs performance type shocks. They are just too stiff for this car. And my old back

I have ordered a pair of 1-1/2” blocks to replace the 1” blocks I already installed.
It just needs to be a little bit lower!
I will be replacing the Edelbrock shocks with some KYB GR-2 shocks. Hopefully they will not have such high pressure and will lower it a little as well.
Will post new pics when done.

I bought the fastback in 1987. It has earned some rest. The 69 will be built with long trips in mind, comfort and good mileage and better drivability in traffic situations. Plus more luggage space. And less worry of damage.

I know what you mean. The value in these fastbacks keep going up and I've been pretty careful where I drive mine and park it. Id hate to get a door ding or accident. When I retire down the road Im going to build one that I dont care so much If I get a ding or small dent. Just want it dependable!

My 68 coupe has no where the value that a fastback has but I hate driving it in town with traffic and all the cell phone users. I too would like a comfortable cruiser as I just like driving old cars. At this point in life, I struggle with redoing some of the aspects of mine to make it more enjoyable over the long trips vs building something else. As much as I love my car, the 69/70 seems to be when they just got everything right.

I have decided with mine......."so what if it gets a rock ding or scratch.....that's part of the patina that comes with a 55 year old car!"
I'm gonna continue to drive and enjoy (and maintain) my 66 for a long while!

I don't know what they look like in person, but I love the way your stripes look in all the photos I've seen, I love the color combination, and yes I agree with just driving and enjoying. Chips and nick don't bother me, it's the person texting at 50 MPH behind me that scares me.

I'm with you Sal... I figure that we are only on this planet for so long and I want to enjoy mine, rather than let it sit in a garage.
I've had stone chips and windshield chips occur on mine. It's not fun, but I just get them repaired.

I understand the feeling guys.
I purchased the 65 with dents and bondo and someone vandalized the roof within a month of purchase.
I can park at far end of a parking lot and still find a shopping cart next to my car with another ding.
Seriously, jealous of this…a new Kia is probably faster than my car.
Perhaps I should have a Full Metal Jacket on it.😁
I even got rid of my kids before the 65…my kids have mentioned it me in humor.
I sure have enjoyed driving it and fixing it and driving some more.
Maybe someday I might paint it after I get the driveline the way I want it…maybe.
