I just got back from AZ. It was great as always. Shorts and short sleeved shirt weather. My wife has been there for the past month dealing with her dad. I went to get her and her dad to move him here to Dallas over Thanksgiving week. Need to get him checked for the corona now. The Mustang has been lonesome. It doesn't get put up in the winter

Not sure about Shivel-lay and "the first thin wall design".......
"Back-in-the-day"( here we go!) it was pretty common to bore a 283 oversize by 1/8" to get a 301 engine. Some even stuck a GMC blower on top of it!
Funny story.........That lil Po-Dunk/outlaw 1/4 mile strip I frequented in high school had MANY "gassers" with Shivel-lay mow-derz.
It was pretty common to paint your engine size on the lower front fender.(Like everybody was tell-en-da-truth...huh!?!))
265 cu in.+wear....283+wear....327+wear. Some even got more 'honest' with their signage and stated 283+ware!
Super/Stock...Super/Super/Stock...A-B-C-D-E stock were the "stock" classes.
Remover the front bumper put you in a gasser class
Remove BOTH bumpers put you in Altered! (plus a few other mods!)
ANYHOW......30 over....40 over...60 over.... was pretty common. Doesn't sound like thin-wall to me!
You had to be there to enjoy it like we all did!
Standing arms-length away from two AWB machines.....dragging the rear bumper...on a VERY narrow strip of asphalt...with a flagman between them .... it's a wonder we all weren't killed! (butt then again...we were 10 feet tall and bullet-proof...there's that!

Sure, we used to bore blocks 0.060" over, BUT that was maximum for a typical SBC, BBC, etc. I've heard of FE's being bored 0.125" over. Thin wall is relative. The older castings that were thin wall were still thicker than the 5.0s.

Thin wall technology refers to casting process, not necessarily wall thickness. Most older engines had huge, thick castings unlike chevy or ford
