Ultrasonic cleaners

Who has them?
What to look for?
What to avoid?

Re: Ultrasonic cleaners

I have a small 3 liter model I got off ebay for $65 a couple years back.  I got it to clean carbs on the vintage Honda motorcycles that seem to find me.  It works perfect for that purpose.

For automotive use, I would want a larger reservoir to completely submerse a 4 barrel carb.  With the larger reservoir, I would want a drain.  My timer only goes up to 30 minutes.  For larger jobs, it would be nice to set it and forget it for a couple hours.

Re: Ultrasonic cleaners

I’ve also wondered about ultrasonic cleaners, seem like they could be handy in the shop.

Re: Ultrasonic cleaners

A coworker recently purchased the H.F. one to rebuild his carbs on his boat.
Said it worked really well.
Doesn’t appear to be large enough for a regular 4 barrel carb body.

I did run across problems on Youtube with seal and no drain and proximity of circuit board to spilled liquid.

I see some on Flea bay but know anything about those either.

Re: Ultrasonic cleaners

My son has a CO-Z Professional 10L ultrasonic cleaner.  He does a lot of small engine work and it cleans up carbs great. It is heated also. They make several different sizes.  I have used it several times on 2 and 4 stroke carbs. If we are doing a small engine carb, we put it in a small glass container with solvent then put that in the cleaner tank. I didn't think it would work as well but it does and you don't have to change the solvent in the big tank very often.
