After 4 months my Doug's headers (D661Y) came in for my 1962 Falcon.
Hope I remember where they go ! !

Nice looking. Let us know how the install goes. I've never installed a set of their headers personally, but they have a great reputation.

Sure look nice.
Could you share details about a/c compressor mount?
I like how it’s tucked in there.😎

The front drive is a Front Runner from Vintage Air. If is the shortest I could find, needed all the clearance for fan and radiator.

NICE!!!....and tri-Y headers.... are suppose to be more challenging than full length headerz!
How about spark plug access?! Looks pretty good from here.

That is looking very good. You need to work faster so you can have it at the next Bash.

Very nice!
Both the accessory drive and headers.
How’s ground clearance Clarance?

Nice! And a lot easier install w/o those shock towers.

Not sure what it will be yet as it is sitting on ramps. With coil over shocks front and rear it will be adjustable.
This is the stance I hope to end up with.

Gonna be a super nice ride!
Any thoughts on a colour yet?

It is white, paid a guy to do body & paint. Ray Charles would have done a better job.
A lesson learned, it will work for not.

Way back in '63 a friend paid a horrible price for a lacquer paint job on his Model A...$175.00. Six months later the paint was literally falling off. So when I did mine I spent about the same and ended up with a compressor, spray gun, a how-to book, all the small tools, and a good paint job on the car. Did a number of cars over the years but never paid someone else to paint one until the Heap. Overall he did a good job on the metal and body work. Paint went on reasonably well but I'm a bit disappointed.
So, like everything else, except maybe major surgery, if you really want it right, do it yourself.
From what I can see it's gonna be a bitchin' ride. And if it isn't quite as perfect as you want you won't be quite as upset when it gets a ding on the way to the Bash.

IMO, one has to decide if they are building a show car or a driver. I’m not saying to accept poor workmanship, but if you’re going to drive the car, nicks and scratches are to be expected. Unless you’ve paid for a high-end paintjob, some imperfections that you see, may not be noticeable to others.
I’ve used “American Touchup” paint to remove chips and the like on my Mustang, and am happy with the results.

I like the temperature gauge on the thermostat housing.
My first car was a $300 1963 Ranchero.

Nice to see the old Falcons. I absolutely love the 1960 Falcon station wagons!

I am also for settling for a nice paint job and not a show car finish. I drive mine and chips happen. I would much rather enjoy driving.

Can't wait to see the finished product.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
