I came across this on the internet. I hope the source is reliable....
They claim the car was a 1965 Mustang GT, 289 4V and the picture below shows the dyno results with certain mods done and horsepower gains. It is in German I think? Here is a translation (done by someone else);
1. Stock
2. Ignition upgrade
3. Without air filter
4. New spark plugs
5. New manifold with Edelbrock 600cfm (out of the box)
6. Timing set to 15deg BTDC
7. Carburetor jets changed (95 from 98)
8. Timing set to 11deg BTDC
9. Header and exhaust system - 2.5"
10. Accelerator pump adjusted
11. Carburetor springs changed from yellow to pink
12. Carburetor springs changed from pink to silver
13. Without headers
14. New cylinder heads
15. New camshaft
Again, the above was somebody else's translation of what is written in the picture below. Some of the details could be better in my opinion and maybe others can add what they think or if someone can offer a better translation great.
I just thought this was an interesting find on the internet...

Interesting, but it would be nice to know what parts were used (heads, cam, etc.) and also at what RPM peak HP and torque were being made. Even then, peak numbers tell you very little about an engine's manners. Curves would be better.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
