My 66 was the pace car at COTA Vintage Races Saturday

Yesterday I drove my 66 fastback as the pace car at the COTA track in Austin for a series of vintage races.  It was a blast leading some historic race cars around the track.  My favorite was a pair of original GT40’s.  One of them was the car that placed third at Lemans in Ford’s 1966 famous 1-2-3 finish, beating Ferrari.

Just imagine seeing that car in your  REAR VIEW MIRROR.

That white tent in the background was one guy’s collection including the two GT40’s, two GT350 R models and several other Shelbys and Mustang race cars.

Many thanks to Prof for arranging this opportunity for me!

Too cool. I'd have probably crashed due to looking in the mirror instead of straight ahead.

We’ll have to wait until Prof gets home and see what he has to post in the way of pictures. I was kind of busy keeping the car on the track.

Re: My 66 was the pace car at COTA Vintage Races Saturday

How fast did you get to go?
Were you a bit apprehensive on the go pedal, did you go over in your mind all the little things that could go awry?
I’d would have had the jitters, seems the older I get fast is less a priority, sometimes😱

The tower kept telling me to slow down so the race cars could catch up.
