I know this is like a dead horse to keep beating, but here goes anyway.
My stock 68 leaf springs are absolutely shot, but my ride height is perfect so of course I know when I replace them the ride height will be screwed up. I have a new set of reverse eye 5-leaf in the garage, but before switching I was curious if anyone is or has used the Maier springs, and they are stated to be 1” lower.
I’ll most likely end up with blocks of some height to get it set right, it just looks so good now.

I used to use Maier Racing products a lot, and they were very good. However, Maier sold out and someone else has the name now. I do not know how good they are, but I bet their stuff probably comes from China. I seem to recall that there was a bunch of legal stuff between Bill Maier and the new owners. He still sells stuff under another name and the Maier Racing Co still exists. You should check out which company you are working with.

I took the bottom leaf out of my 5 leafs and it looked lower....currently I am doing shelby drop and new suspension on front so it will be a bit before I can report back.

I would never advise using lowering blocks. Blocks create a lever on the axle and cause spring wrap on hard acceleration. Spring wrap can eventually break the springs, or bind u-joints causing failure. My advise would be install the new springs, drive the car for a week or two and see where it sits. If you aren't happy with it decide how much lower you want it, then take the springs to a spring shop and tell them you want the springs dearched to get a ride height that is X inches lower. It may take some looking to find a spring shop these days, but they are still around. Its a more time consuming and costly way to do it, but its the right way to do it.

Good advice, and we do have a good spring shop here in town. I may have to do it several times as I am concerned that the 5-leaf may be a little stiffer that I want, so I may have to remove a spring.
Took me several months to get the 5-leaf in reverse eye, and no one seemed to have the 4.5-leaf.

If your ride height is perfect, why do you think the springs are absolutely shot? If my springs were holding my car at the perfect ride height I'd think they were doing their job perfectly. Do you have some pics to share?

picture after Rockwall bash 2021
Spare tire full size, tools, clothes, and of course gifts for kids.
Viking coil overs 350# sbf, Shelby drop 1”, 1-1/8” front sway bar
Mustangs Plus 5 leaf mid-eye (90’s vintage), KYB Gas-a-Just, no rear sway bar, no traction devices
picture after 2019 Michigan bash…about 3 weeks after
Mustangs Plus 620 springs, KYB Gas-a-Just front, Shelby drop 1”, 1-1/8” front sway bar
Rear suspension, same as above
Full size spare tire ( no rim), weekend bags for a concert, lightly packed
Future modification for rear includes replacing Gas-a-Just to something softer.
It’s really noticeable on washboard roads and potholed Michigan roads.
I like the look of your front valence.
It’s subtle and cool.

I think the Ring brothers make a valence like that.

Thanks a lot, I used my original valance and tried to resemble a Shelby Valance,
Leaf springs are hard because I am sure we could 10 of us and order the same set of springs for each car and they would set 10 different heights. The reverse e Thad me a little concerned but at this point I’ll just put them on and see.

Sooooooooooooooo I would just re-install the Caltracs!
Looks perfect to the "Sally-eye"........
(How-does-it-idle......is the big question!!)

Ya, I agree with Sally. And that's a really good looking Mustang. Soft springs and shocks to control them is a popular way to go. There's a wide variety of shocks available, not all are good.

Another option is make them into 4.5 leafs by cutting a leaf in half and only having the front half of it in the pack. This helps reduce the change of spring wrap while still offering a ride less harsh than a 5 leaf.
The count of leaves is a bit misleading too. The thickness of the leaves matters a lot more. A 5 leaf pack can be just as soft riding as a 4 leaf pack if the leaves are thinner. You may need to be careful trying to directly compare 4 and 5 leaf packs of different manufacturers in terms of ride quality.
If you really want it right my guess is it may take trying a couple different setups to get it perfect.

Wunder-what would happen if........you take a lawn mower blade (about the width of the main leaf!) ...drill a hole in one end to attach to the spring pack and put a couple of spring clamps along the length of it?!
Sort of a traction master "built-in"
