brake master cylinder disc/disc and disc/drum

Hello,
I am writing from Germany and would first like to apologise for my less than perfect English. I found this brake master cylinder on the Mustang Steve site (description below). This cylinder can be used for disc/drum and disc/disc combination. As far as I know, drum brakes need a pre-pressure valve so that the seals of the wheel brake cylinders are in contact and tight. The proportioning valve only reduces the pressure, or can it hold a pre-pressure ? How is this solved in this master cylinder?

Thanks in advance
regards
Uli

Re: brake master cylinder disc/disc and disc/drum

FORD quit putting residual pressure valves in drum brake master cylinders in early 70’s. This master cylinder does not have one either. While its original application was four wheel disc, our direct experience shows it to work well on disc/drum systems as well.

If you prefer a true disc/drum master cylinder, use the iron one offered for that purpose. It bolts ip the same. It does not have residual valve, either.
