Need a Dallas area inspector......

There is a 63 Galaxy convertible on Bring a Trailer that my Falcon buddy is interested in.  His first car was nearly identical to this one with the exception of the transmission....his had a four speed.  The car is in the Dallas area and has two days left on the auction.
Is there one of you Dallas area folks that could possibly take a craw over it?

Here's a link:

Re: Need a Dallas area inspector......

I can tell anyone that wants to look specific areas these rust in.

I can tell you also just by the pictures, that is either not the original engine, or they don't know what they have.     X code is a 352 2 barrel.     Being that has Thunderbird valve covers on it, someone clearly put them there.   Not saying I wouldn't.  I like that look myself.   But saying the only true way to know that engines displacement at point of sale is to pull a spark plug and measure the stroke.

Not doubting its an xl, but it does have the plain mirrors on it.   And that's ok too.  I don't like those big bulky mirrors either.

Overall seems like a very nice looking desirable color.   Great price at the moment.

Any specific questions just ask, I will try my best to answer them.   Although I'm far from any expert.

Re: Need a Dallas area inspector......

Wow!
That thing looks nice.  I would sure go check it out if I was in Dallas.  But,then.... it might wind up heading to MY garage,   Looks like a nice find from all the pictures.  I wish him success on the purchase.
Let us know what it finally brings on the auction.

Re: Need a Dallas area inspector......

I just looked at the pictures again closer this time, and it has a tilt steering column added!

Anyway if he buys it, just let me know and I will send you a free radio knob.

Re: Need a Dallas area inspector......

Greg, Thanks for the info and the offers of help.  I also noticed the tilt column and the X code.  And that's all been noticed by others.  It also is color change from Champagne.  Not a really great car but it does look like a fairly nice car with a lot of potential.  As a 17 year old my buddy did his best to destroy a black on black over black with 390 and top loader.  Kids!  I don't think this is going to go to crazy $$$....just doesn't show terribly well, IMO.
MS, you should jump in the FB and run up there, check it out.  Might be just what you need to fill out the stable.
