mine may just NOT have the right angle to start with  ....thought maybe somebody else on here may have the perfect handle on theirs without cutting and was wondering what that might be.

Perfect is a matter of opinion.  Your height, reach, etc. determines perfect.  My advice is find something close and modify it from there.  Heat, bend, cut, etc. can get it exactly where you want it.

Re: What shifter handle for your 5 speed provide numbers and transmission

I use the 5384106 on my T5 in my '66. Ordered from Amazon April of 2017.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00062Z4Z8/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm 6'1, so the seat is all the way back and I have a White 5 speed ball (Hurst 163008) on it that I ordered at the same time.

I agree with TKO.  Try what you have and go from there.  My shifter handle is one from the 70's, not sure it matches the new offerings. It is straight with no bends, or offset, about 9" tall.  I'm 6'1", have the seat all the way back and the seat back is adjusted so I sit straight up.  I find the reach to be quite acceptable.

I had this 4106 in my 66 also and seemed fine ....just looks tall....not quite as bad as "Rat Fink" just figured somebody may have came up with something better.

Re: What shifter handle for your 5 speed provide numbers and transmission

I have the 4106 and it did seem a little tall. I cut so the top hole became the bottom hole and drilled a new top hole. Seems normal now

That is what MS suggested and what I will do more than likely soon.

Re: What shifter handle for your 5 speed provide numbers and transmission

I bought a hurst shifter at swap meet.  I added some washers to get the right angle.  I also used some loctite on on the bolts.  The first time around they came loose.
