Steering box

Down here, the go to box for a RHD conversion is a saginaw type box from a falcon. PS and manual.
My car is staying LHD
I'm wondering if it's a done thing in the States to use a 71-73 box to get integrated PS without a Borgeson?
I've never heard of it, maybe someone else has?

Re: Steering box

I had looked at maybe doing it to the 67 years ago. A lot of deep cutting that would weaken the frame a lot.

Re: Steering box

So what is so bad about the stock Eaton setup? The rebuild kits are cheap and I don't understand the (I need to feel the road) thing I get with a Borgeson box. The 67 is 4 turns lock to lock and the resistance enough to always return to center driving.

Are you running a stock from suspension?

If you don't care about road feel then I suppose nothing.  Personally I want a driver's car.  My car was manual steering when I bought it.  However I had all the stock '67 PS parts from another car that I rebuilt and was going to put on my car.  In the process of looking at classic Mustangs with a family friend I drove a couple that had factory PS.  I hated it so much I never bothered to put the PS stuff on my car.  I liked the road feel and precision of the manual system far better and was willing to tolerate the difficult slow speed steering.  20+ years later when the Borgesson system became available I decided to try and get the best of both worlds.  I'm happy I waited.  Its light years better than the factory system in terms of road feel and precision.
