Creative or redneck?

Home depot gutter guard used to create something to fill the openings on a shelby style hood scoop.

Opinions?

Re: Creative or redneck?

Looks good.  Can you use it elsewhere on  the car like the front grille so it matches?  It might look funky if you have a few diffferent patterns going on.

Re: Creative or redneck?

The expanded metal mesh looks period correct. I know from personal experience that the Gutter Guard is very soft. In real world use it is going to get pushed out of shape. You will probably be happier if you go to the middle of the store and buy a sheet of the more rigid expanded metal.

Re: Creative or redneck?

I like the look alot but, like hornman stated, that stuff does not hold its shape very well.  If you take very good care of it, it should be fine.

I wonder if someome makes that out of some T6 heat treated aluminum so it would be rigid...

Re: Creative or redneck?

It looks really close to the quarter vent mesh on 65-66 fastbacks so, yer good!

Re: Creative or redneck?

Looks good. You could even paint it black and I think it would look nice.

Re: Creative or redneck?

OK... some good feedback & suggestions.  Thanks.

Believe it or not, Home Depot has something similar in black for just a few bucks.  I'm going to make 2 sets (one aluminum and one black) before the car goes off to paint later next week.  After the car has some color on it, I'll see which ones, if any, I like and install accordingly.
