We are flying into LAX, then a flight to either AUS, or SAT, then a rental to the Bash. Which of the two airports is better to fly into, then drive to Gruene?
Offline
Austin and SA as second choice.

Austin is first choice. San Antonio. Either is a good choice

Thanks Billy and Steve.
Steve, can I avoid any toll roads out of, and into AUS? Don't wanna pay for toll transponder if I don't need to.

I will be flying into SAT and renting a car. Are there toll roads between New Brafulls and San Antonio that I should know about?

From San Antonio, take I-410 east from airport to I-35 north to New Braunfels.
From Austin airport, take TX 71 west to I-35 and go south to New Braunfels.
No tolls on either of these routes, but there are toll highways in the Austin area. You should not have to worry about any toll roads in the New Braunfels area.
Austin Bergstrom airport is farther than San Antonio International, but to me is an easier drive. But, either one is not bad. I-35 gets really crowded during rush hour going either direction. It seems flights are usually cheaper out of Austin. I don’t fly much, so my advice is always questionable!!!

Thanks MS for the info. My flight will be arriving late enough to miss the worst of the rush hour and my return trip will also not be until the evening. I could have gone into Austin, but the drive to New Brafulls was twice as long as San Antonio, so I opted to go there, and my flights are free anyway.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
