Will be pulling the 2.80.1 or 3.00.1 gear with open diff out going back in with 3.55.1 gears and Truetrac unit and wanted to change the tag to match what is in it.

Billy if you remember, I made tags for the 8" and 9" third members I made by using the dog tag machine at Walmart.
I added the ratio, and the brand of gear. And the date I made it. Somewhere there aught to be pictures.
Correction: I found the post on here from 2014. The picture is long gone. I added the ratio, the manufacturer of the aftermarket Trac lock, which is basically a repop Ford Trac loc, and the date. I will see if I can find a pic on my old laptop, I ain't crawling under the Galaxie. I might not be able to get back up right now. Lol

Here ya go, this is what I did. I looked for pictures on sd card and came up blank. Then I remembered I wasted money on a spare for some reason. Went to my "stuff" drawer on my toolbox.
One is a original 8" tag that used to be on an old Mustang of mine.
Middle is the dog tag I made.
End is my first attempt at making my own tag. Notice I used Galvanized. Quickly realized stamping it was going to be a challenge.
Now I'm curious as to why my 9" original 2.75 tag is not there with the rest of it. I know I had it. Wonder where that got put?

I took my original tag and hammered the ratio information flat, then used a letter stamp to add the new ratio

Go online (Amazon or wherever) and choose a letter and number stamp set. Should be easy enough to find a piece of aluminum you like. Seems like a better use of your money to me. May help in the future if you ever want to make other tags (like carbs, etc).

Since we never see them, I'm thinking BILLY WALTON and TKO are bots.

I would Love to come but I got a few Doctors appointments coming up and I just got my Third member from Quick Performance ...they did me good actually sent it in a Noudular case that was a upgrade they cast them for 8 inch rear ends now there. Soon as I get the car going good and situated in my Doctors I plan on traveling to a few places in Mustang I hope. Steve has been talking about a trip that involves California next summer.

I'll get to one some year. I was going to the one that got canceled. A LOT has happened since that's kept me form being at one. Ironically Billy and I communicate outside the forum. Huh, maybe we are bots...

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
