hey all,
I'm adding the power booster (MS's kit) and I have things almost completed. I put my brake light switch back on the pedal and hooked up the wire connector and NO brake lights.
So I do some trouble shooting.
-fuses... check
-remove the wire connection from the switch and use aligator clamps to connect the two leads and I HAVE brake lights.
-with the switch not on the brake pedal I connect the wire connector to the switch and use a screw driver to compress the switch, again I have NO brake lights.
So I believe the problem with this is the brake light switch. Trouble is that it worked fine before I started this process. Can they go like that? As far as I can tell it is original to the car or at least pretty old. Figured its probably OK to replace it but thought I would ask if anyone else has had experience with this? Can I repair the switch or clean it up or something?
Thanks guys.
Richard.

I replaced mine with a standard micro switch from an electronic shop for $3.00. It clicks a little louder than the original switch, but at $3, I could replace a lot of them before they would add up to a chineese switch.
I just made a little bracket for it and it has been working great for several years.

USe a 68 Mustang POWER brake light switch if you replace it. They have a lighter spring so they come on quicker. SOMETIMES that is an issue when the booster is added.

I just had the same problem, mine was working fine then installed the new booster and it would not work or it would stay on all the time. New switch worked fine. Make sure you didn't install it upside down.

Thanks, I'll pick one up this weekend. Appreciate the quick response.
