Great info Rudi. I checked the molecular weight of other things as well. The butane that was mentioned has a molecular weight of 58, the Argon mentioned has a molecular weight of 40.
I wonder if Propane would work as it is more commonly available. It's molecular weight is better than Argon's, at 44. Even though it would be more expensive, I also wonder if R134a would work as it has a molecular weight of 102. C02 has a weight of 44. I assume that all these gases would be moisture free and should work according to the stated cause of paint drying in the can.
In contrast Oxygen and Nitrogen (air) probably averages about 30 but is laden with some degree of moisture.

I have a small butane torch so will definitely try that on the next paint that I open. Por15 is the worst at crusting over, so hope this works. Very good info if it works.

I went to the site. Interesting. On a side note, I find it ironic that the ad that played was for Barrett Jackson 500 dollar paint systems. The car auction company that sells cars for 10 times their value gets behind 500 dollar paint jobs? That just seems funny to me.
However, I will admit, I like the idea of 500 dollar paint jobs.
