I did it on engines that I sold, thinking new owner might not want stuff stamped into their block where it shows. But, I would still have evidence of what/when was done if questions came up later.

How about a serial number to reference a file  with all the new parts,  engine work performed , crank and piston sizes, etc.

If I was to have a business doing engines, I would certainly do that. But, I had four engines to build and accomplished that and now I am retired again.
