Is anyone using the Edelbrock AVS2 Carburetor? If so, what are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike

Everyone will make fun and say I screwed up but I just put on a fresh rebuild for my 55 F100, it is a cruiser and I wanted good low RPM throttle response. I put a 500 CFM on a Stock rebuild 351w (96 model roller motor) it has the stock 96 F150 cam, I put an edelbrock performer intake and the 500 cfm AVS2 carb.
It performs amazing and starts like fuel injection when warm, if it's been started in 12 hours or less, don't touch the gas just hit the key, if sat for more than 12 hours, give it one pump and it goes.

I had one on my 65 Corvette. Great carb for just a driver. Never sputtered or hesitated.

I like'em ! Got one on my hot rodded 5.0 engine.
Easy-enuff to tune....jets/metering rods/springs is all the stuff to deal with. NO fuel leaks when working on it.
Can you be more specific concerning your question ?
Down side....they don't 'look-like' a FoMoCo carb .

Presently have an Autolite 4100 (1.12 venturis) that is tuned for the 347 in my car. I am looking for something with a higher cfm capacity. The AVS2 caught my attention, but I haven't seen any reviews of the AVS2 on engines with a low vacuum signal that would be simulate, or be comparable to, the 347. Although the fuel air ratios are good with the Autolite, some circuits run a little rich and some run a little lean. I think that the AVS2 will provide more tuning options in the idle through low mid range.
I don't have a choke on the Autolite and would like to have a manual choke for morning start ups. I am a fan of annular boosters and that is why I installed the Autolite so many years ago.

Note: The AVS2 is an improved version of the Edelbrock carb most are familiar with.

Nice looking F100. Is there a write up somewhere online where I can check it out?

Send me a PM with an email and I'll send you all the details and photos, It has been and is a great truck, but it's going up for sale at the Street Rod Nationals this weekend in Louisville KY.
Everyone says I have it priced too low for what it is, but we will see.

Eddy carb....650cfm would be a good fit. Air dam design on the secondaries will regulate when the secondaries 'come-in' to keep an over-active right foot from creating a big 'bog' when/if you floor-the-pedal at too low engine RPM. Tune up kit for Eddy carbs have a variety of springs-jets-metering rods to fine tune any 'snotty idling SBF'.(trust me!) Tune up chart to get the parameters just right are available on line too.
Manuel choke 'I tink' is available also.
Hint.....ignition timing curve is VERY important to get everything to idle right and to turn your Mustang into a low flying cruise missile !
BIG cams like lotsa initial timing...butt-knott too much total timing
(dependent on how well your heads flow...AFR's for example flow better than GT-40 heads so would need less total timing)
