Made a lot of wiring changes/added fuses/added relays and would like to convert my hand drawn schematics to something more professional. Anybody have a favorite simple software program they use to draw schematics?

I love and use the free version of DipTrace Schematics

Also used their PCB software too, equally great.
Have not tried that one yet. I will give it a try. Thank You.

You're welcome. I've also messed with Rapid Harness a bit, but definitely has a learning curve!

Draftsight, which is an AutoCAD clone is available in 2D only for I think $100-$150/year. I use it for blueprints. I've used it for schematics before. You can change line type and color and even make blocks or import blocks for devices (relays, etc.) to save repetition. Its second nature to me, as I learned AutoCAD in the late '90s. If you had to learn it from scratch you'd be better off with something else probably.

Years ago I used AutoCAD as well as Schema. After playing around with many new versions I decided to to stick with a simple software package. I've been using LibreOffice for years instead of Microsoft Word. In LibreOffice you can open up several different configurations including a drawing package. I am using the LibreOffice drawing option.

Can you import PDF files into the program and alter or is it file type specific.

Doesn't look like it. Seems to only want to import ASCII or Eagle files
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
