Its been a long road to get to this point, but my 67 project car is out of my hands for the first time in 18 months.
Shop owner said he'd have it ready in 3-4 weeks... yeah, i know that really means 6-8 weeks... but that's fine with me. I've got lots to do around the house in the mean time.
Wish me luck, say a prayer, light a candle... whatever. I'll post pix when its done.

Mines been in the shop since May 6th. But then, he only does restoration work, he's a 1.5 man shop, he started a 69 Camaro rust bucket full resto four months before I took our's over and that turned into the project from hell.
He's about got the metal work done and should be starting the final prep pretty soon. So.....I may have the car back by the end of Oct. and that'll be perfect. Gives me the whole winter to put it back together.
Good luck Cgomate, it's very trying for me to take a car to someone else to do any kind of work but especially this kind of work.

BB...wow, since MAY??? Hopefully that end results will be worth the wait.
At this stage of the project, by car doesn't need any metal work. Basically just a block sanding & painting. I even considered doing that myself (time to learn something new), but in the end, I decided to let "Chico" do it... his real name, by the way. I've seen some nice work come out of his shop and with the friendly referral I got, it looks like I'm going to get my money's worth.
Besides, I could use the time away from the mustang project to get all of my "take-off" parts (289, C4, signal hood, etc) cleaned up & sold as well as a number of other household projects that have been put off long enough.

I prefer understated colors, gray's & blues mostly... the interior is the factory style 2 tone blue. So I spent several months shopping colors. I kept a notebook in my car and noted anything I liked. A hockey buddy of mine works at the local Lincoln dealership and he showed me their Smoked Quartz on a 2013 MKZ.... WINNER!
The smoked quartz color is a very dark gray that goes well with the charcoal spokes on the wheels. Its similar to the "gone in 60 seconds" car, but instead of brown undertones, this paint has a blue tone to it. I'll trim it out (side stripes & hood scoop area) with a silver/pearl color with light blue tones to match at least one of the colors of the interior.
My paint scheme will either be a very tasteful & classy hit... or an absolute disaster. The guy painting the car is going to shoot the primary color and call me when he's mixing up the trim color. I work about a half mile from his shop, so I should get to see it before it goes on the car.
As for project photos, my daughter has my laptop tonight. I'll retrieve a timeline of the pix and get a few posted tomorrow.

Mine only took 7-1/2 months... Remember, 80% of PAINT is PAIN.

1.5 years and 8 months on car #2. Had to pull that one and do it myself. "Paint jail"
