First start up . . . .

. . . of the season.
The 331 in my 68 has not turned over since last October. It has  led a pampered life over the winter in a heated garage and under a protective car cover, a full tank of gas with Stabil.
I knew from previous years that the fuel in the float bowls would be dried up and starting it like that would require quite a bit of cranking before the fuel pump filled the carb and the oil pressure came up.
I pulled the air cleaner off and made up a small funnel that fit into the bowl vents, added 200 cc’s of gas to each bowl. The 670 Holly’s bowls hod 170- 210 which is about right for proper fuel evel.
My normal starting procedure is gently floor the go pedal to set the automatic choke and pump the pedal once for a shot from the accelerator pump. Invariably the engine starts right up.
The 331 did not disappoint, it started before one revolution of the crank. That put a big  smile on my old face as the pil pressure was right up to its normal 60 psi when cold.
After it came up to temp(180 ) and I tapped the gas to get curb idle it settled down to normal idle rpm.
I did a “walk around” to check for anything unusual but all seemed good and took the better half out for a hour or so cruise.
Life is good!

Re: First start up . . . .

I used to have mice, not in the car though.
After I installed a couple of those ultrasonic critter eliminators the shop and garage have been pest free. I was sceptical but the things really work.
