You should install this one with velcro. Much easier to change #6....

Re: Fifth water pump being installed

Once you get the 247 bolts off holding all the serpentine crap, the water pump is easy.

Good reason to stay with belts.

Re: Fifth water pump being installed

New pump is in. Changed crank and alternator pulley to slow down the system but keep the alternator at same speed. New belt went on by hand with the tensioner held at loosest position.
No noise.
No leaks.
Fans come on with compressor, or right at 195 degrees if AC is off. Turns off at 185 degrees.
Looks like I finally have all the right pieces installed and it seems to be perfect. Hopefully the water pump lasts longer now that there is no fan bolted to it.

Soooo, still selling or keeping it?

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

Re: Fifth water pump being installed

There is a guy in Arizona that wants to come see it. If he doesn’t buy it, I am going to keep it and put the AOD in it I got from Gaba.
As long as it proves reliable, it will be a good car. There are not many T5’s in the USA. Hagerty estimated maybe 300 across all the years 1965-1979.

If I have to keep working on it to keep it going, I will sell it. Everything is new, so if the water pump thing is cured, it may be fine.
