Anyone ever see one of these?

Went over to an old Mustang guys house today.  He's been into them since they first came out, and has owned hundreds of them. He had a 66 red vert that was covered up in his garage and had boxes of parts stacked on top of it so I couldn't get a good picture.  He said it was made by Ford and at one time was going to be an option for convertibles, and that only 10 or 12 were made as prototypes.  The pics don't do it any justice, it looked like a very nice piece.   It's a "Roadster" option like the ones you see on convertible TBirds.  It cover up the entire rear seat area.   Very nice.

Wow.  That I've never seen, or even heard of.  I'd love to see some wide angle shots.  The fit looks a little odd close up.

Re: Anyone ever see one of these?

My first thought was the "Ronster" body kit.

It is most definitely NOT a fastback roof.

Re: Anyone ever see one of these?

If you scroll down past all the fastback conversion roofs you will see the duplicate of the "roadster".  I almost gave up after all the pics but sure enough a few shots are shown.  Could be a copy off of a rare original or perhaps the rare original isn't rare or original.

Re: Anyone ever see one of these?

It could be original or some home job. I saw a hard top convertable coupe that ford did in 65 that never made it past prototype due to cost would've been cool though the top folded into the trunk
