New speedo question

My goal is to use the original speedo and the VSS sensor.

Having trouble posting a pic for some reason, something about timestamp not being valid. Was going to show the exterior end of the sensor where the cable would go.

Here's where I am. I've removed the VSS sensor from the trans, and yes there's a gear on the internal end. The problem is the other end has a white piece of plastic, that looks like it could possibly be removed, where the cable would go. Does this come out or do I need a different VSS sensor?   I've looked all thru OReilly's and Rock Auto to see if there's a piece that would go in that end that would seal and hold the cable in place, but have found nothing.  Might have to get it from a Ford dealership if there is such an item.
