help with T5z in my 67

I am contemplating which route would be the least difficult with installing my 94-95 t5z. I basically just have the tranny and a t5 conversion cross member (not sure if it's designed for a fox body t5 or the longer 94-95). Some other things to consider is my 289 has tri-y's.
So should I stick to the longer input shaft and get the correct bell housing and use the longer 94-95 cable clutch?
Or should I change out to a short input shaft with correct bell housing and still use the longer cable clutch and will that allow it to clear the tri-y's?
I would also consider doing a hydraulic clutch if it would make things go together easier with the tri-y's.

Maybe my cross member has enough adjustment in it to work with either input shaft?

Re: help with T5z in my 67

If your 67 has power steering, stay away from the 94-95 T5 bellhousing.  The release arm puts the cable right into the P/S ram.  My preference is always the 93 or earlier tranny due to the shorter input shaft.

The Tri-Y headers usually interfere with the cable right where it enters the bellhousing.  I have not had any reports of ANY that did not have issues.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Thanks Steve,
I don't have power steering, so that won't be an issue. I'm thinking about mocking up the motor/tranny in the car with the longer input shaft and then tackling any little issues I may run into. I've read the 94-95 fits the shifter hole better with my factory console. I'm not married to the tri-y's so that's no big deal either.
What would be a good recommendation on a set of shorty headers? Hedmann?

Re: help with T5z in my 67

94/95 never came with a z spec, nor did the aftermarket make an input shaft to use a z spec in a 94/95...if its  truly a z spec trans, u r stuck anyhow with the shorter input...longer and shorter input shafts are only interchangeable with the oem 335 first gear t5s that came in factory vehicles...
