Things being piddled with in Greg's Garage.

Messin with two things.  1 the gas pedal assembly in the Gal (put in by previous owner and not a clue as to what it came out of)   didnt fit well and did not have the proper travel.  So I went to the hardware store to grab some bushings to make an extension and on the way I happened to find these.   2" steel casters clearanced for 2 bucks apiece

So I decided Im finally going to deal with that shop press since that got brought up recently and its on my too do list anyways.

I went to my pile of 'stuff ' and found some metal brackets I bought at a yard sale (bed stake kits) and some pieces of steel and started thinking.  And came up with this:

Im going to cut the bends off and weld to pieces of that channel.  Have to make 4 identical ones.  Should give it a lot more sturdiness.

As for the gas pedal:

I made extensions and spacers and put bushings in there even though in its original form the pin just went through the metal bracket.  Still have to clean it up and I will probably just weld it because I see no need that it will ever come apart again.

Glad school is back in session

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

That is the most dangerous phrase I have ever spoken to myself.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Cleaned up the pedal brackets and the paint is drying on em.    I made 4 of these.   Ran out of steam.  That was a lot of cutting and grinding.  I will probably start welding them tommorow.  LOL

Think I will head back to the hardware store for some grade 8 bolts and lock nuts.

Here are the results

Takes up a lot less space on the underside and tucks right in the gap on the ends of the crossbeam.  And yes it seems to have made it a heck of a lot more stable.

The gas pedal:
