I am installing rear seat belts in my '65 Fastback. I have installed the reinforcements in the floor area that are used in the '66 ve
hicles. I have the plates that go under the floorboards, but I am not sure where the outside brackets go for the belts. I have attached a photo of the floorboard which shows the bracket that the interior quarter panel mounts to. Does anyone know where those plates go in relation to that bracket in the floorboard? Maybe a photo on some dimensions etc. Thanks

What are the white tubes? Reference points to check to see if the chassis is square?

not really sure - it's not my car.

I really doubt they are for reference points, reference points are taken from the frame itself, if you extended those points you could be off by quite a bit due to flex in those pipes. I would bet they were using those as risers to get the body higher off the floor or something like that. Would be interesting to know. jkordzi where did you get the pics from??

I need to put these same outer Seat Belts on my car. New floor and they were not part of the floor pans.

I'm all new to this Mustang thing and all. I just bought a 69 T5. It did not have rear seat buckles. I installed them this weekend. My car already had star wrench bolts installed into those backing plates as seen in your pictures. I used that location to install male side of the seat belt. But had to drill holes on the outer sides of the floor pans to fit the female side of the buckles. And I guess it's all about location, location, location where to install the outer belt. I will admit I did not know where the manufacture might have done it. But I chose a location that allowed the best fit of the belt as well as being able to get at the nut on the backside of the floor pan. I also had to consider the way the belt was going to be routing around the outside of the seat once it was installed again. I did not want it to be so far under the rear seat. The location I picked seemed to be a pretty good spot. The only real instructions that came with the belt was that it needed to be installed with a spacing no less than 15" and no more 25".
Anyway, I was able to haul the family to town on Sunday and they seemed comfortable and more importantly safe.
Thanks

You can buy the tabs for anchoring the seat belts that get welded to the underside of the car, but I wanted something stronger than the tabs I've seen, which were just holes punched into sheet steel that were swaged out enough for a few threads. I made my own out of some 18 gauge sheet steel, clipped the corners off to duplicate the original, drilled a hole in the cented and welded on a nut. While I was at it, I ground off the swaged threads for the front seat belts and welded on nuts for them as well (car was on its side and I was already redoing the bottom). At the same time, I added the reinforcing plates for the dual exhaust. Note that I have seen some rear seat belt installations where the same tabs that are on the underside are also on the interior.
