Any opinions on total rebuild gasket sets? All are not created equal

I found a set of valve cover gaskets that have a rigid core and a silicone outer sheeth that haven't leaked a drop despite the covers being on and off several times.  Built to be re-usable.  Clearly this would not work everywhere, nor would you need most to be re-usable.  But even among the paper or fiber gaskets, there are good ones and bad.  Anyone stumble onto a complete set for 289/302 you think are stand-outs?  Not opposed to being creative.  For example, my exhaust manifolds have never had gaskets.  Just a thin layer of hi-temp silicone sealer right agains the head.  Because there's no flex and everything was truly flat, that has performed beautifully.  I know exactly where to buy the flimsy ones I'm now removing.  Looking for the good ones. :-)

Thanks

I've done just as well by piecing together a gasket set through RockAuto.com.  It's more trouble, but I actuallly think it's cheaper plus you get what you want... and don't have to buy what you don't want. You can get the  reusable rubber type gaskets for the pan and valve covers.

Re: Any opinions on total rebuild gasket sets? All are not created equal

I never buy the whole engine rebuild kits because I want specific gaskets that don't come in the kits.  For instance, I lke the one piece oil pan gasket, I want to be able to pick the compressed thickness of the head gasket,  I want the larger Felpro intake ports (1260 I think) and I'm picky about the rear main seal.
