    Can a new fuel pump be bad??????? :-(

    Ok so I just figured out what my problem is....my car isn't getting much fuel to the carb...is it possible that a brand new fuel pump can be bad???  It seems to get a little fuel and then just dies.

    I took the spark plug off thinking they were fouled but they looked fine...so I know it is getting a spark and by the way it is starting up for about a minute it seems to work but then it just dies.  

    I did change the timing chain...is there anyway I can screw up that fuel pump eccentric?? I sincerely hope not

    I go with the assumption that anything new can be bad.

    If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

    Could be bad but check the other usual suspects - make sure your needle and seat are opening and adjusted properly, that the fuel line from the pump to the carb is not kinked or clogged, and that your fuel line, filter, pickup from tank to pump are flowing freely.  Once you eliminate all of those about the only thing left is the pump or eccentric.
