I recently upgraded my front drum to front disk brakes (non-powered). I followed the steps for the Granada swap but my donor car was a 1977 Maverick. Everything bolted up like the Granada swap as all the parts are interchanging. everything fit up fine. Here is the problem:
Mustang Steve's info page says to use the mustang pushrod when the maverick MC is used. Does anyone know why this is? the maverick pushrod is an inch longer than the mustang rod. could this be the cause of the soft pedal?
Any help is appreciated.

I've Hurd the longer rod will result in brake light being always on. And ive Hurd that if you use the manual pedal master the rod can pop out not sure if that's true though that's just what I've Hurd. Hope this helps

Think of it this way. You are using the same brake pedal and the same master cylinder position. You have not changed anything under the dash.
Why would you need a different rod length?
Changing to a longer rod will make the pedal sit higher and change the geometry as the rod enters the master cylinder. The pedal can only come back towards the driver a very small amount before the pedal stops at the top of the pedal support. If you install a longer rod and the brake pedal is pushed back to its limit, then the braked will be applied at all times.
Use the pushrod that came on the car.
