Brake fitting not lining up

I constantly have trouble getting the hard brake line fittings into the distribution block. Is there some trick to getting them to line up. Takes me forever to get them in, now it's the one to the line that runs the length of the car. 68 mustang power disc brakes aod p/s a/c.

Re: Brake fitting not lining up

Stick the hard line part in first then slide up the fitting. Your flares could be off center.

Prebent Flared line. Getting it to line up perfect so the fitting will screw in is a b..tch.  Coming up from the bottom into the block. A little tight in there to say the least

Re: Brake fitting not lining up

Try loosening the bolts where the PV mounts to the car so it can move slightly.  I find it easiest if the tube nut is slid all the way to the end of the flare before trying to get it started.  The tube needs to be perfectly straight aligned with the threads.

Always thread the hardest to reach fitting first...  Get all 5 fittings started before tightening any of them.  Leaves wiggle room...

Would taking the block out of place and starting the fittings be any easier?!

loosened the block, still having issues. Gave up having friend come over, he'll probably touch it and it will thread. LOL

Re: Brake fitting not lining up

You have to get the tubing heading straight in.  A little bending will likely get it right in.  It will go in REALLY EASY if you consume a beer while HE is installing it.

You are absolutely correct! I may even have two beers while I watch him stab it right in.

Re: Brake fitting not lining up

I barely started drinking my beer when my friend said he got it !! I knew that would happen. He just adjusted the angle of the fitting, I played with it too long.
