I need to replace the fuel pump on my 1967 289 Mustang I've heard the 1965 yfuel pump will fit and it's better because it has its own filter. Has anybody tried this?

Brian, that fuel pump was used a lot back in the day. I think it fell out of favor because of vapor lock issues. There is a lot of surface area on the filter cannister to transfer heat into the fuel. In hot regions on hot days, on hopped up engines, this exacerbated the vapor lock problem.
Good Luck
