    Console w/o A/C alignment in '65

    I installed my console and I checked it to make sure it was square and level and there is enough room around the manual shifter. When looking at the chrome trim at the front drivers side, there is a gap between the carpet and the trim where the screw goes in. If I tighten the screw, it pulls the console down so that it leans to the drivers side too much. Any suggestions?

    Depending on how much sound deadener you installed, you might have issues.  Since you cannot tighten the screws down very tight without damaging the console anyway, I don't see a problem with not tightening the screws as tight as possible. 
    Since I raised the drive tunnel in my car, mine has a big gap but is not noticeable.

    Do you have the console front mount installed?  That will keep things squared up.

    On my old console,  only the two screws in front and two in very rear were used. The rest were cut off underneath and RTV'd in place.  Four screws were plenty, but then, I did not have a small child walking all over mine.

    Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.
