Holley Avenger 570 High Idle

Another question.   Its been cold up here in Wisconsin.   Highs have been around 50 degrees.  I've notice my idle has been at around 1500 rpms.  Went to turn the idle screw and it will screw down but it doesn't lower the idle.  I think its stuck on the High Idle.  Usually I hit the accelerator and it drops it down.  For some reason it doesn't want to drop.  Even when the engine is warmed up.  Is there an adjustment for this?
Thanks Steve69

Re: Holley Avenger 570 High Idle

Check and see if you're high idle screw is not too far in causing it. also check youre choke linkage to see if it's binding

Re: Holley Avenger 570 High Idle

What are you using for power to the choke heating element?  The ignition coil wire if the original resistance wire won't have enough voltage to fully heat the coil.  If you are using a full key-on source, try turning the choke housing clockwise 1/8 turn or so to see if the high speed cam drops out and gives you normal idle.  In some cases in cool conditons the choke heater will not fully rotate open and if the high speed idle adjusting screw is in too far it will give too high an idle or it may even hang up on the cam.  There was a thread a few weeks ago with a similar situation and if I recall - and I just found it.  Read Steve's comments towards the bottom - http://fyi.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=2689.  Depending on the air cleaner you are running, the choke housing may not see much heat from the engine tkeeping the choke open on a cool day so it depends on the heater alone.

Re: Holley Avenger 570 High Idle

I added Holley choke setting to the TIPS AND HOW TO section.  Trim the red cam for best results.
