c4 auto tranny shifter buttons on 65 mustang

I have a 65 mustang coupe with a c4 tranny, I need to replace the buttons on the shifter handel, how is this done? it has a 200 ci 6 cyl. eng. i have the drake kit  but no instructions on how to  install it thanks jim

Are you talking about the two bushings that ride on the pin that goes through the shifter bucket?  If so remove rubber plug to gain acces to the nut that that holds on the shifter handle and remove.  Slide the lower lever/pin from the housing, clean off all old debris.  Inspect the pot metal bushings for excessive wear and install one plastic bushing on each side of the pot metal bushing and reverse steps to re-assemble.  Much easier if the shifter bucket is out of the car.

I think the reference is to the T handle. There's a small Allen set screw on the back, near the base where the handle connects to the shift lever. Back the set screw off and pull up on the handle to remove it.
