Slow but sure progress on the 65 Fastback

Engine is ready to be married to the transmission and then be dropped into the engine bay. Is it OK to leave all of the pulleys and belts on.

Single Rocket Racing 17" with 4.25" backspace bought to test fit the front and back. I finished buying the other three tonight. Now to find rubber to wrap around them.

 Looking real good.
As for rubber have you looked at BFG G-Force Sport Ultra performance summer tires. I used  them on my 68 and thought very highly of them. Unfortunately they discontinued them in the 15 inch sizes that I needed.

Re: Slow but sure progress on the 65 Fastback

Looking good !  and thanks for keeping us updated on progress.

Yes, you can leave the pulleys on when installing engine/tranny combo, but angle of dangle must be pretty steep and you will need a helper to lift the tranny tailshaft up and over the core support, and then to raise it up once under the vehicle.  This can lead to paint scratches on the firewall if not really careful, so if you want a bit of insurance, remove the crank pulley.  The others won't cause any problems.

Re: Slow but sure progress on the 65 Fastback

Rudi thank you for the starting point on picking a tire. Looking at the:g-Force Super Sport A/S Z       255/45ZR17http://ntb.com/tires/sku-detail/Bfgoodrich-g-Force-Super-Sport-A-S-Z/255-45ZR17-98W-255-45-17/sku120005.s?pageName=PLP&skuId=sku120005

Will discuss the tire height and width with the service manager. I may see if he will let me get one tire installed, take it back to my house and see how it looks for clearance.
