I'm considering changing my leaf springs to a mid or reverse eye set up, mostly for aesthetics. Is there any gain in drive quality with this change as well?

I switched to the mid eye, but it still raised the rear about 2" due to sag in the old springs. I hear they will settle with time, but mine are to new to tell. I am a 70's guy so not unhappy with the results.

if you're happy with the way the car handles now, you might consider lowering blocks. as far as i know there's no adverse effects from them. i'm sure someone else will chime in if they don't agree with me. you would need some longer ubolts to do it. o'rileys has them pretty cheap.
what part of nor-cal are you in, if you don't mind me asking?

I recommend the springs I just installed in my car. Mustangs Plus Grabatrack 4-1/2 leaf reverse eye. Eliminated wheel hop, ride quality is very nice. Firmer than stock but not harsh at all. I have 26" tall tires (245x45R17) and I have right at 1/2" to 3/4" air space between the tire and the quarter panel lip.
Also see the MustangSteve Ride Height page (link is at top of forum) for some examples of what combinations will get what heights.
I have been running lowering blocks on this car for 20 years and am so glad I finally got rid of them. No real problems, but it is a stopgap measure to doing it right. A 20 year long stopgap measure...
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
