OK, you have 02 WHEELS, not 02 brakes. The brakes are 05 or newer, but I cannot tell from the picture which size they are.  Do you have the 12.5" or the 13.2" brakes?

I had no idea this was going to be so difficult...

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

I have the 13.2 brakes, tried coy c 67 17x8  they would work with 5/16 spacer, 1/4 spacer would maybe work very tight at that point until brake pad wears, decided to go with c67 18x8 which I am still waiting for.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

Steve,
I have the wheels you are referencing (17"s and 18"s fronts and rears) but I do not thave the brakes you are referring to. Want me to head down your way and you can check for yourself the clearance using different Torq Thrust 2s? Also have some Cobra 427 knock offs that some folks put on Mustangs.
Just let me know.

Paul, that would be most appreciated !  I will need to go buy some brake pads.  I have new front and rear GT calipers and rotors but no pads right now.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

Hi all, got a wheel to add to the fitment list.
Boyd Coddington Moon Eyes wheels 17x7 and 13.2 GT rotors/callipers will not fit without spacers.
Have to order some spacers and check again.

Mitch.

It's the inner hump part of the rim that you see here which is interfering with the calliper.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

It took set of 40 mm Eibach spacers to make it al fit flawlessly.
Even when the brakepads are gone completely, the calliper will run free from the rim.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

I just recieved an example of the wheels I have to put on our 66 HT.  Jean absolutely ain't gonna be happy without chromed Cragars and I am determined to have the late GT brakes.

I'm happy to report that the Cragar Classic one-piece aluminum in a 7X17 w/4.25 BS clears the brakes.  I have a set of "take off" brakes so the pads were used a bit but not much.  The wheel clears the caliper by + or - 1/8" (Same as the 15" wheel cleared the 11" KH caliper).  They may be closer with brandy new pads but I think it's going to be okay.

My only concern now is fender clearance with a 225R45 tire.  Fenders are off so I'll need to hang one in the next day or so to be sure.  Butt (TS&T) I think this blind hog just found an acorn.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

FYI

18x8" US Mags Ramblers U111 do not clear front 13.2" brake calipers, a 0.2" (5mm) spacer is needed.
18x9.5" US Mags Ramblers U111 just enough clear rear brake calipers (approx2mm free play)

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

Steve,

70 Mach 1

I have 13.2" front GT brakes -take offs from Rousch, your brackets, and I bought early 2000's Ford Bullitt wheels, (I think the same as yours, except mine aren't reworked like what you did) and I intend to buy 1" spacers.

94-04 Cobra rears with your brackets.

The install is still in progress.  Found a lot of while I'm at it, or while i'm in there stuff to do on it.

I hope this works!

MS
I am running American Racing Torque Thrust M 7" wide with 4" BS 235 45 17 with the late model brakes and your gt2008-ft brackets. 12.5" rotors 2009 GT takeoffs. No issues with clearance.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

If you read the responses posted, you can see that most do not know what brakes they have, what wheel size and backspacing they have and whether they clear or not, nor can they explain what they do have!! There were a few with good info to share but, for the most part, this was an exercise in futility, even after I posted how to give the required information.  (See post # 14)

I would love to be able to put together a good chart showing what fits, but this was getting ridiculous trying to pry information from the folks who have installed these brakes.

Steve,  Do you only want the info for 17" wheels?  Or do us with smaller wheels get a place in your list too, as we have the same kind of fitment issues?

Just in case you do care about us little guys:
I have 16x7" steel wheels w/4.25 back spacing
Wilwood 4 piston calipers
12.19" rotors
No spacers
Fits with about 1/8" clearance
Tires are 215-55x16.

I also have a set of 87 Lincoln Mark IV aluminum wheels
16x7" w/5" back spacing
Wilwood 4 piston calipers
12.19" rotors
5/8" spacers
Fits with about 1/16" clearance.

An observation:  Looking at KStang's photo I notice that his ride height is around 3" higher than mine.  Ride height makes a huge difference in what size tire one can use.  I had to downsize from the 225's I used to have to get the fender rubbing down to something manageable.  Drop his front end that 3" and I bet the car would not be drivable.  Maybe we should also include ride height based on the measurement from the center of the wheel to the bottom edge of the wheel well.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

I'm running the GT2008 12.5" brakes with:
American Racing Torqlite 17"x8" 4.5 BS with no issues. Clearance between caliper and wheel is CLOSE, but works just fine. Having trouble posting pictures, can update later.

I'm running 17x7 retro wheels from eBay.

Re: Question for all using the 13.2" late model GT brakes on their car

1966 V8
13.2" 2012 GT fronts / 11.75" rears
MS brackets front/back (original 8" small bearing rear axle)
Torq Thrust M 17 x 8 - 4.5" BS all four corners, nice fit with rolled fenders front, lips removed in rear
No spacers - TT M have plenty of clearance for front calipers (3/16" min. to spokes with new pads, equal clearance to inside rim diameter at calipers), rears have miles of clearance
